Ages 3 to 11 must have a parent (or family) with them in Malaysia. If one parent wants to accompany the child, that parent can apply for a Guardian Pass — a long-term social visit pass tied to the child’s studies — after the child’s Student Pass is approved. Under current rules one guardian pass is issued (commonly to the mother), the parent may not work on it, and a Malaysian-witnessed personal bond is required.
If you want the whole family to relocate, the route is Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H). Fortis works with a trusted MM2H agent to handle your family’s residency; your child then studies on a Dependent Pass with a “Permission to Study” endorsement, rather than a separate Student Pass. (Note: very young children, generally under 6, study as dependants, which requires a parent who is employed in Malaysia or on MM2H.)
